Urban transport
• Buses: Thessaloniki has an extensive network of bus routes serving the entire metropolitan area. The management is held under the Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organisation.
• Metro: Metro Thessaloniki construction started in 2006 and is expected to be completed in 2020. The first line will make the journey New Train Station – New Elvetia, and extended routes are planned for other areas.
• Suburban: There are suburban routes to Larissa and Edessa approximately every half hour.
• Bike: Thessaloniki has a bicycle network of 12 km, mainly in the coastal front.
